Few watchmakers blend storytelling and horology as distinctively as Konstantin Chaykin, and Grimaldi the Clown is one of the most expressive examples of his celebrated Wristmons collection. Inspired by Joseph Grimaldi, the pioneering performer who elevated clowning into a respected art form, this remarkable timepiece captures both the visual identity and emotional depth of its namesake through Chaykin’s design language.
At first glance, the dial presents a charismatic face, with rotating hour and minute discs forming animated eyes while the moonphase display creates the character’s mischievous smile. Yet beyond its whimsical appearance lies a sophisticated mechanical concept that has become a hallmark of Chaykin’s independent watchmaking. Every glance at the dial reveals a constantly changing expression, giving the watch a unique sense of personality and interaction rarely found in traditional horology. The 42mm steel case is distinguished by a specially engraved bezel featuring the model’s name in elegant Baroque script, a detail created exclusively for the Grimaldi edition. Turning the watch over reveals another milestone for the Clown series: the first exhibition caseback in the collection. Through the sapphire crystal, the automatic K.07-0 calibre and its distinctive full-disc rotor can be admired, showcasing the mechanical ingenuity behind the playful façade.
Produced by one of contemporary independent watchmaking’s most celebrated creators, Grimaldi the Clown stands apart as both a collectible work of horological art and a tribute to theatrical history. It is a watch that sparks conversation, invites curiosity, and embodies the creativity that has made Konstantin Chaykin one of the most original voices in modern watchmaking.
This Konstantin Chaykin JOKER GRIMALDI is in very good condition, showing only light scratches on the caseback and clasp. The strap remains well-maintained.
At Second Movement, the pre-owned division of Ethos Watches, we adhere to a rigorous verification process where expert watchmakers carefully inspect every watch to certify its authenticity, ensuring it is not counterfeit. We also go to the maximum extent possible to ensure that the timepiece is not a stolen property and that all duties are paid. However, in the absence of any central database, a 100% verification is unlikely for any pre-owned entity in India. Nevertheless, we can still provide a provenance guarantee for watches purchased from Ethos. Please note all our transactions with sellers are conducted via registered banking channels, accompanied by a signed affidavit, banking proof, and PAN card. A specific affidavit stating the watch is not a stolen property and that all applicable duties have been paid is also obtained from the seller and is available for buyers in case of legal requirements. We strive to build trust through transparency and diligence, outlining our verification process and the inherent limitations. Our commitment to integrity shapes every transaction, prioritising your confidence while acknowledging the realities of the pre-owned watch market.
